TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:-
1) Alumina Ferric (Alum) shall conform to IS-229-1980 (Grade II) modified upto date, required for purification of water.
2)Colour of the material shall be cream
or brown or light yellow.
3)The material shall especially be
Aluminium Sulphate Octadeca Hydrate (Al2(SO4)3 18 H2O)
4)Water soluble aluminium compounds
(as Al2O3) present shall be minium 15%
by mass.
The detailed specification of Alum shall be as under:
i)Insoluble matter % by mass:-Max 0.5
ii)Soluble Iron compound (as Fe)% by mass:- Max 0.7
iii)Water soluble aluminium compounds
(as Al2O3) % by mass:-Max 15.0
iv)pH (of 5% aq. Solution):-Max 2.7
v)Basicity (as Al2O3) % by mass:-Max 0.5
Additional requirements of material required for purification of water :-
vi)Lead (as Pb) ppm:-Max 30.0
vii)Arsenic (as Al2O3) in ppm:-Max 6.0
